For those of you who have never been on a cruise, I can only say one thing: GO! They are the best, most relaxing, cost-effective vacation that you could possibly go on. David and I went on our first cruise December 1-8, to the sunny Caribbean, and LOVED every minute of it. It was a 7 days of fun and relaxing--and a real getaway from snowy Utah. We went on the Carnival Triumph cruise ship with Todd and Kathy, and can't wait to go on another one! Here's a little summary of what we did on the ship...

This is us as we were sailing away from the Port of Miami. The fun was just getting started!

This is the Lido Deck (floor 9) of the ship. It was the central area--with a live reggae band, pool, 2 jacuzzis, countless sun chairs, a water slide, and also the buffet. This was also where they held the hairy chest contest (too bad we didn't get pictures of that!) and various other activities and contests.

We also enjoyed some mini golf while on board the ship. I lost big time to the guys, but decided to chalk it up to not being on solid ground--that, I'm no good at it. :)

Here's the Paris Dining Room, where we had our sit-down dinner each night. The food was great, and we enjoyed ordering several appetizers and desserts each night! They even provided some entertainment while we ate--you can see the waiters dancing on tables.

There was also lots of entertainment each night. Besides magic shows, comedians, singing and dancing, they also had other smaller activities in the Rome Lounge. This is us in dance class--learning an Austin Powers dance.

This is David, Todd and Kathy playing Family Feud one night. The girl's team won--and Kathy came home with a trophy (aka 100% pure gold PLASTIC ship on a stick). Fortunately, we got the whole thing on tape, so we can laugh at some of the crazy answers they gave!

Here was us on the last night, with our week's worth of rewards. I got a bottle of champagne and trophy for winning a Name that Tune contest the first night, Kathy got her trophy from Family Feud, and Todd and David got their medals from other games that we played throughout the week. We ended up giving the champagne to our very grateful neighbor on the cruise.

And, of course, there was formal night. Our ship actually had two--but I missed the first one because I was sea sick. It was fun to get a little dressed up and eat fancy food.

So that's the condensed summary of life on board the Carnival Triumph. There was so much to do and eat and see! We had a great time and enjoyed perfect 80 degree weather. The only bad thing was that this is what we came home to...

Four inches of snow! Gotta love Utah! :)
